About Us

Millhouse Green Male Voice Choir is a well established local choir with about 40 actively singing members, associated to the National Association of Choirs. We are based in Millhouse Green, a small village on the edge of the Pennine moors of South Yorkshire and have been singing together since 1967. We still have an original member singing with us today, in our top tenor section.

We practice at the Millhouse Green Institute on Monday nights at 7:30, and enjoy performing locally and nationally, and competing at festivals.

Each September we have an annual UK tour. We’ve been to many beautiful locations. In the past 5 years we’ve visited Liverpool, Brixham, Norwich, Coventry and the Lake District. Each tour is hosted by a Male Voice choir and concludes with a joint concert of joyous singing together. Last year (2024) we performed both in Coventry Cathedral and outside in its ruins before enjoying a triple header concert with Rugby and Coventry Male Voice choirs. This year (2025), we’re off to the North East to sing with Sunderland and Hartlepool male voice choirs, as well as to perform a lunchtime concert in Durham Catherdral.

More locally, our 24-25 season sees us perform with Thurlstone Brass Band, the Holme Valley Singers, Penistone Ladies Choir, the V&A Ensemble and the Dalesman Male Voice Choir. 2025 sees us returning to Eskdale festival where in 2024 we took third place in a very competitive male voice class.

Our musical director is Rachel Atkinson, and our pianist Philip Sutcliffe. Our chairman is Roger Green.

New members are welcome to pop by any week to have a listen, or to join us in singing. Although rehearsals begin at 7.30 there is tea and coffee available from 7pm each week. We’d love to see you!

The choir has a busy diary of events (see the upcoming performances page on this website). We are also available for bookings for concerts and celebrations. If you would like tickets for a concert or would like to book the choir for your event please contact our Secretary Richard via email on mgmvc@hotmail.co.uk
