About Us

Musical Director - Sue Christie L.R.A.M.
Sue has been the MD of the Choir since 1993 and during that time the choir has gone from strength to strength.  She teaches us a wide musical repertoire, many of the pieces arranged by herself, and her thoroughness and attention to detail has brought considerable success in competitions.  Sue is an excellent teacher who takes rehearsals and concerts enthusiastically and with endless patience.  A very talented musician and singer, she is also a member of Mastersingers.

Accompanist - Melanie Littlewood B.A.
Melanie has been the choir's accompanist since 2005.  She graduated from Oxford in 1997 with a BA in music and now teaches in Huddersfield.  Melanie is an excellent pianist and accompanist who helps to bring out the best from the choir.  She comes from a musical family and her daughters are following in her footsteps with successes in musical competitions.

Now in our 44th year, Millhouse Green Male Voice Choir approaches the future optimistically.  We have a full concert programme for 2011 and the choir has grown from less than 40 to about 50 in the last few years.

In 2007, our 40th anniversary year, we enjoyed a highly successful tour of Holland.  In 2008 we visited North Wales to sing in concert with Cor Meibion Dwyfor in Porthmadog and the next day in Caernarfon Castle.  In June 2009 we played host to Cor Meibion Dwyfor when they visited Yorkshire to present a concert in the Penistone Paramount.
The same year we sang with guests East Fife Male Voice Choir in Penistone and in October 2010 visited East Fife to sing in Edinburgh and Perth and in Durham Cathedral on the way home. In 2010 we were also invited by the BBC to take part in the making of a Symphony for Yorkshire which was widely broadcast and still available in High Definition via YouTube.
